Acronis 2016 backups

Thread needs solution

I have used acronis since 2010 and feel i understand most things but

My issue is that d when doing entire pc backup it backs up my second harddrive as well

What i am wanting is to back up only (C:) drive for restore  in case of hard drive failure

also today when i tried to look at my backups  I did not ahve rights to my folder on my NAS which is a mapped drive on all my systems? Can not take ownership as well

and is the backup (full) am i able to restore to dis-similar hard ware using Acronis boot media

Entire PC backup by default backs up all internal drives.  If you want just the C drive then you would need to run a Disk and/or Partiton backup.  Clicking on the Entire PC icon will get you to Disk and Partition backup.

You do not need to take ownership of your mapped drive, you need to edit your user permissions under the advanced options so that your username has Full Control.

Recovery Media and Universal Restore are independent applications now.  To restore to dissimilar hardware you first recover the backup image using the Recovery Media, shutown the machine, reboot using Universal Restore Media to add drivers for the new hardware.

Dont know why but i can not take ownership of folder

will talk to son maybe he can fine answer but some how it is locked away says folder now empty did find backups in trash box and deleted for i just need Disk backup not entire PC am confused on recovery media though

Like I said ownership of the backup folder is not necessary your problem is with permissions, hopefully your son can correct it.

Recovery Media is created by the end user.  It is available using the tools option in the GUI (look for the open book icon).  You can create the media on CD/DVD or USB stick.  Recovery Media is used to perform a recovery is needed by booting your compter to that media.

Universal Restore is also a bootable end user created media.  For that you must download the file from your Acronis account on the support website.  You use the Media Builder tool used to create the Recovery Media above to create the Universal Restore Media as well.  Universal Restore is not needed unless you are moving an existing installation backup file from an old computer for example or you have to replace the motherboard in your machine for some reason.  Outside of that Universal Restore is not required.
