Acronis 2016 Clone error 0x59001 0xFFF1

Thread needs solution

Attempting to clone from SanDisk 240GB SSD to Toshiba 256 GB SSD using Acronis True Image Home 2016 with partitions kept "as is".

Immediately get an error: Failed to write to the disk.

sector 0 hard disk 1

Direct R/W operation has failed. (0x590001)

Operation not permitted (0xFFF1)

What do I need to do to complete the clone operation?

Thank you.

I would run the following from an elevated command prompt on both the source and destination disks to see if there are bad/dirty sectors and try to repair them if any are detected

chkdsk /f /r

You may have bad/dirty sectors on one or both drives that are preventing the clone from completing.

There are some limitations with cloning drives that have different sector sizes as well (most SSD's are 4K, but not all).  If cloning continues to fail and there are no reported dirty sectors. you can try backing up the entire source drive and saving the image somewhere else (another drive or network share), restoring the backup to the new drive, move the new drive to where the original was and boot from it.
