Acronis 2016 Installation nach Acronis 2012 Deinstallation funktioniert nicht.

Thread needs solution

Manfred, welcome to these public User Forums.

Some suggestions:

First, open the Windows Services.msc (control panel) and stop all / any Acronis Services which are shown there.

Next, open the Windows Task Manager and end all / any Acronis Processes that are still active.

See KB 24019: Acronis True Image Home 2012: Processes and Services - for information on what services and processes you may find.  Also check KB 56697: Acronis True Image 2016: Services and Processes - in case any of these were installed when attempting to install this version.

After doing the above, run the Acronis Cleanup tool as Administrator so that it has the correct authority needed.  Restart the computer after using the tool.

Now do a manual check for the following folders and registry entries.

Acronis folders.
C:\ProgramData\Acronis
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Acronis
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\Acronis\
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Roaming\Acronis

HKCU\Software\Acronis
HKLM\Software\Acronis
HKCU\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Acronis
HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Acronis
Left over .sys and .dll files at C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\System32\Drivers.
Look for files starting with snap that may have a number in them.
Something like snapxxxx.dll or snapxxxx.sys.
Where xxxx would represent a build number of True Image.

Note: please do not delete any files unless you are sure you have got the correct file - make a copy of any files you have any questions about, including a note of where it was located (path).

Hallo Steve,

at first, I have to say thank you very much for your detailed advice to solve my problem.

Unfortunately, although I followed all the steps indicated, the problem still remains. The search for “acronis”, “trueimage”, “true-image” or “true image” is not successful either in the folders and subfolders on C:\ as well as in the registry; also files starting with “snapxxxx.dll” or “snapxxxx.sys” are not detectable at C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\System32\Drivers.

Before I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro I faced a similar problem trying to remove an avira installation: although after uninstallation I applied the avira registry cleaner, I was not able to install the upgrade, because the setup program still found avira residues on the system. After manually deleting the file “avipbb.sys” from C:\Windows\System32 I was able to perform the ugrade to Windows 10 Pro.

For me it looks as if I have a similar problem with the installation of the acronis 2016 program. Do you know how one can find out the reason of my problem?

Manfred, please see KB 46710: Acronis True Image: Installation Fails in Windows - for common issues.

MSI log

Creating an MS Installer Log of Acronis Software.

Alternatively create an Acronis System Report which should include an installation log.
