Acronis not starting

Thread needs solution

I used Acronis True Image 2015 successfully and then bought the 2016 version this year. I ran once but now when I "click" on the Logo on my desktop, it opens the "User Account Control" which asks; "Do you want to allow this App to make changes ..... but when I "click" on "Yes" , nothing happens? Any reason for this. I just ran Repair, but it did not help.

Hello, there have been lots of reports of a similar problem in the forums - some are solved by running the program in compatibility mode for Windows 7, others have been caused by a driver update for a graphics card.

See https://forum.acronis.com/forum/113429 for the latter situation.

or  https://forum.acronis.com/forum/102033 - this has no answer but pointed the user to look at the Windows Event Viewer after which they didn't come back?

https://forum.acronis.com/forum/109073 tried lots of things and got it fixed in the end.

https://forum.acronis.com/forum/109613 exposed an issue with Dell computers!

https://forum.acronis.com/forum/115010 was advised to perform a repair install & didn't come back?

Hi Steve, I did not know how to run Acronis in Windows 7, but by pure chance it gave me the opportunity today and WOW! It worked. It is advisable to write the procedure to follow when the same happens as what I experienced!

I really appreciate your comment as it surely worked fro me. As I'm typing the back-up is running!!

Thanks a million

Hi Steve,

Just another question. Should I keep my older full and inc back-ups or only the recent one which was done today?

Thanks

If your older backups were created with ATIH 2015 then you can still use these with ATIH 2016 as it provides backwards compatibility for those backups.

I would suggest keeping some of your backups until such time as you have created new full backups with ATIH 2016 for the same source items, unless you need to make space for the new backups of course.
