Acronis True Image 2016 will not run on Windows 10 Pro (November update 1511 (10586.36)

Thread needs solution

I made a clean installation of Windows 10 v1511 and after installing Acronis True Image 2016 it never run. It was working ok with the first release of Windows 10.

I tried uninstalling and installing again (several times) and uninstalling antivirus as well but still never run.
I was going to come back to my Acronis True Image 2013 version which was working perfect but then I decided to try the last thing:
I selected the Compatibility option in the properties of the Icon changing to Windows 8 and then it launchs without any problem, I also tried sucessfully with Windows 7 compatibility option.

Here's what I did to resolve this with TI-2016 and Windows 10 v1511:

  • Backdrop: Laptop has a full image a bit over a month old when the D drive (Whole laptop is less than 8 months old and pampered) dies!  Don't buy Seagate folks!  No problem!  Acronis 2016 to the rescue!  Yes, please make changes to the system!  Whenver you're ready!  Take your time!  Sooner than later though.  Any old time now.  Little icon on the taskbar, why won't you maximize/restore?  Hello?

1) Uninstall the program via Programs and Features control pannel

2) Download The Acronis Cleaner (free from Acronis, not some malware-laiden collection of crap) https://kb.acronis.com/content/48668

3) Run The Cleaner and chose option 2

4) Reboot when it's done

5) Re-download Acronis 2016 (the free 30-day trial version) and install it - don't just use your old(er) installer

You'll know you're good when you're asked to buy/activate your product.

Good luck and I hope this sequence works for you as it did me.  Now back to the dead laptop...
