AcronisTrueImage2016_6595.iso

Thread solved

Hi,

I downloaded this AcronisTrueImage2016_6595.iso from Acronis web site and I am kind of stumped as to how to use it.

So the question is... how do I use it?

Thanks in advance......

Rich

Richard, welcome to these public User Forums.

ISO files are intended to be burnt to optical media such as a blank CD or DVD which you should be able to do from the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer which provides an option for this action.  Once on a CD, then you boot your computer from the CD.

Start at about 1:35m

Thanks much for the help.

I appreciate it.

One more question.... Is the rescue CD computer specific? In other words, if I create a rescue disk on computer 1 can I use the same rescue cd on computer 2?

For the most part, it should work on multiple computers. Always test though when possible.

For the best compatibility across machines, build it with the advanced  WinRE option on a current Windows 10 1903 computer. Or, build it with advanced after installing Windows 10 ADK 1903 and using the ADK option.

Bobbo,

Sorry but I don't know what ADK Option is? Or the WinRE option.

Thanks and sorry for the ignorance....

Open the rescue media builder. Go to advanced. WinRE is the windows recovery environment that is a hidden partitioning your windows installation. It works really well for the system it's built on. However if that system is a current version of Windows 10, it will also work well for most other hardware too

Windows adk is the manual way of creating similar rescue media but you have to download and install it from Microsoft first. If WinRE is working and you have a current version of Windows 10, just use the WinRE method.

The MVP rescue media can do both too. The MVP tool has a nicer user interface when you boot to the finished product. It uses the same methods as the default builder, but with our own extra tools to make it more user friendly. Just download and run it and follow the prompts
