Again issues with TI 2016: this time with a bit-locker encrypted (but unlocked!) drive
Grrr! This f#%&$@ TI 2016 is causing trouble AGAIN! I only wished that TI would at least ONCE work and do a backup without any trouble! This is such a PoS!
I am trying to do a backup to an external drive that is encrypted using Windows' Bitlocker. The drive is unlocked, i.e. I can access and write to that drive without any issue!
After starting the backup it fails within a few seconds claiming that it can not open a backup on an encrypted drive and that I need to unlock the drive or decrypt it. But I just DID unlock it!!!
I have done backups to that very same drive before (and it also was encrypted at that time as well). SO, why is this an issue this time and not working as expected???
This is on Windows 10 with all updates/fixes applied as of today (i.e. running the "Anniversary Edition" plus a couple of updates since).

I was able to get this going by downloading and installing the very latest build (6571).
To be able to install it I had to uninstall the previous version which also removed my previous backup definitions (not the files, but the settings, i.e. all backup locations and options) - so I wasn't exactly delighted by this process (why can't one do an in-place update that keeps all settings and preferences as other tools do?) but at least I was able to do a backup after that...

Did you upgrade to Windows 10 anniversary update while Acronis was installed? Win 10 "upgrades" (especially the anniversary update), have not gone quite as smooth for many people as would be expected. We're expecting Windows to port everything over correctly, but that just doesn't always happen. By starting clean, you probably resolved an issue introduced by the Windows upgrade.
You're right though, doing a clean install will remove your settings and scripts - the idea behind the tool is to start fresh and not introduce possible issues that might be brougth back in by reintroducing the same backup database or backup scripts.
It is possible to do this by first copying off the following folders (which requires you to shutdown Acronis services first since they would be in use if the services are running
C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts
C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database
AFter running a cleanup and re-installing, but before launching Acronis, you could copy these back over the newly create folders and your tasks would be there. However, you'd still ahve to go into each one and re-pick the source and destination. Problem is, it's not friendly, but may just bring back the behavior that was there before too.
