ATI 2016 compared to 2015 and 2014 Premium
Hi,
I am a long term user of ATI and last year upgraded to 2015. I was disappointed. The product was dumbed down and features I had used in 2014 Premium were no longer available.
Before I venture to try 2016, I would like to know what the users' think. Is 2016 and improvement to 2015. Do the features removed from 2015 reappear?
I appreciate your feedback.

Hi VIC S,
the best option to understand if Acronis True Image 2016 fits your needs is to use a free trial version, which is available on our website.
Comparison table for Acronis True Image 2016 and Acronis Backup 11.5 you can find in this article:
https://kb.acronis.com/content/56613
If you are satisfied with your Acronis True Image 2014 Premium and your operating system is supported by this program version, there is no need to upgrade or move to Acronis Backup 11.5.
However, it would be very helpful if you let me know which features you miss most of all and also provide some information on scenarios you used them in.
I'll forward your feedback to development.
Thank you,

Hi Anna,
I was very occupied (I was helping with the refugees in Budapest). I am now trying ATI 2016. So far it seems a lot nicer that 2015. I notice two things are missing. They are:
a. compression option
b. encryption option
I especially miss the encryption option. Why was this removed?
Thanks,
Vic

These options are (I think) both found in the "Advanced" tab in options.
Encryption is part of "Backup Protection" and compression option in part of "Performance". The compression option is not available if you are backing up to Acronis Cloud.

Compression is also only available on newly created tasks and cannot be changed/added to existing backup tasks.

Hi,
Thank you. I do NOT see the compression option in the Performance tab. There is no Backup Protection tab in ATI 2016 as far as I can tell, either. If you can send me a screenshot that would be helpful.
thank you.

Hello again. Both options are ONLY available if you chose the "ADD BACKUP" option to create a new backup. If you alternatively Browse to am empty folder (for instance) and enter a new backup name, the option will not be available. This is not a big deal; as is the case with Acronis the software interface can be a bit inconsistent. With that said, Acronis produces very reliable backups and that of course is the goal.

Vic,
Your findings are default expected behavior. Both compression and backup protection are only available for new tasks. These options cannot be enabled or added to existing tasks per program design.
