ATI 2016 hanging - same like 2014 -is ATI worth its money

Thread needs solution

Is Acronis still worth its money?

I had a PC with ATI 2014, when opening Program it hung. I lived with it, and hoped when i need my backups to restore it would work. At this time my PC was very slow.

ATI2015 was a disaster.

Created a new Windows 7 installation on a new SSD with ATI 2016.

The first day all went OK.

Made 3 backups.

Now i wanted to check the backups.

Either it takes 2 seconds after providing the password to show the options or recover files. Or in 95% or the cases it just hangs and hangs and hangs.

This is a fresh install, no virus scanner yet. all drivers up-to-date checked with "driver identifier".

In 2014 and 2015 many probles existed with hanging problems. not any idea of acronis to set a logging setting to identify the problem.

Acronis, can you help?

When i rename the backup directory, so that ATI can not find it, opening the options works.

Why does ATI 2016 have problems reading the tib files, which it created half a day before?

I have the same issue and same behaviour.

W7 SP1, rebooted many times, removed virus scanner.

Setup a new VM, had the same effect.

Who has an idea what can be wrong?

Hello Jonas,

Thank you for your posting! Could you please povide us with the following information:

  • Have you upgraded ATI2015 to ATI2016 or it was a clean installation?
  • Where the backup files are located? Does the issue persist if you select different taget location for backups?
  • Is the archive password protected? If you create an archive without password, is the issue the same?
  • Could you please clarify what operation hangs (browsing of backups or recover process)

In order to check the logfiles you can collect Acronis System report. Useful logs reside in Application Data\All Users\Acronis and Application Data\All Users\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs. I've registered your feedback regarding the missing logfiles in GUI.

Thank you in advance!
