ATI 2016 WILL NOT WORK!

Thread needs solution

My frustrations are showing!  New HP i7 computer.  ATI has been uninstalled, cleanup run, rebooted, current version downloaded, run as administrator, etc.  No matter what I do, the backup (full, small test, whatever) begins and shows "Calculating time remaining..." and NEVER gets beyond the first tiny green progress %--just hangs there forever!

I have used this program for years and have never had this much trouble with it (although it hasn't always been very easy to use).  I don't know what else to try.

Help, please!

James, sorry to hear about your frustrations despite all the actions you have tried to resolve this issue.

One of the possible causes of this type of problem lies with the Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service VSS which is involved at the start of all backup tasks in order to create a snapshot of the data being included in the backup archive.

One of the Acronis Support Engineers, Slava, recently posted a method of turning of VSS for an individual task so that the Acronis snapshot function is used in stead of VSS.

Please see post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/45832#comment-346558 for the steps provided by Slava

Ditto to Steve's post. Please try disabling VSS for your backup task and see if it will run with the proprietary snapapi backup method that was the default in 2014 and earlier.  This seems to work for most in your situation.  Unfortunately, VSS is a Windows service, but can be finicky and may have an issue in the OS (new computers are not immune to issues either - I had a similar issue only a few months after a fresh Win 10 build and noticed other VSS issues that I could not repair so I rebuilt the OS again and then things were fine after that).
