ATI delete all my SSD back up ????

Thread needs solution

I had created a clone of a SSD C:  on another SSD .... yesterday at the time of leaving Windows, in background ATI made a task without knowing which one ... this morning I start my PC and ATI had deleted everything on this SSD, so tell me why A true image delete this clone of my C ?

thanks in advance

Marc, welcome to these user forums.

Please download the Log File Viewer app from the link in my signature below then check for messages shown in the Service log files that ATIH creates for each backup task that is run.  Post copies of the log files to the forum if you need help in reading them.

If you create a clone of a drive (SSD or HDD) then you should always remove either the source or the target of that clone from your system before booting back into Windows.  Starting Windows with both drives connected can cause unpredictable problems due to both drives reporting the same identical disk signature.

I have never heard of any problems where ATIH created a backup task without user intervention, and have never experienced such behaviour in the many years I have used this product.

I suspect that you had a backup task that you had scheduled to run and this has picked up the drive letter of your SSD drive to use to write to, but again, I have never heard of ATIH deleting everything from a backup drive?

The other possible explanation here is that when you speak about creating a clone of your C: SSD that you actual made a full disk backup of that drive, which would have created a file on your second SSD with the name _full_b1_s1_v1.tib and it is this that has been deleted when a new backup was created?

Without being able to see the Acronis log files or having more information, I cannot advise further here.

Thank you for the answer, I downloaded read_log_file_install_2_2.zip...I unzip the file, I executed but I obtained a message which it could not install...sorry I'm not an expert.

you say this: "If you create a clone of a drive (SSD or HDD) then you should always remove either the source or the target of that clone from your system before booting back into Windows.  Starting Windows with both drives connected can cause unpredictable problems due to both drives reporting the same identical disk signature."

Maybe that's why ATI delete my partition back up

Marc, please download the standalone version of the Log File Viewer app, this does not need to be installed so should work for you by just running the program extracted from the zip file.

Marc, thank you for the log file information, this shows that you are attempting to start a clone operation from within Windows, which is not recommended, plus when you perform a clone, it has to erase the target drive in order to then copy all the data (partitions/files/folders etc) from the source drive.

Please see KB document: 56634: Acronis True Image 2016: Cloning Disks for a comprehensive description of how to use Cloning to duplicate your disk drive(s).

I would strongly recommend that you should do this type of operation using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media and not from within Windows, plus it is also recommended to take a full disk & partitions backup of your source drive to an external backup drive before doing a clone, so that you have a means to Recover your system should anything go wrong in the process, or you select the wrong drive etc.
