atibtmon general runtime error

Thread needs solution

Just upgraded to Win 10. True image worked fine with Win 7 SP1 but in WIN 10 I am getting the following error:

Program: C:\WINDOWS\system32\atibtmon.exe

The rest of the message identifies this as a runtime error caused by an unusual program termination request.

Backup itself seems to run ok.

This actually appears to be a problem with Windows 10... You may want to try an "in place" upgrade of Windows 10 over Windows 10 again.

I wouldn't recommend using any of those 3rd party tools in the article - just referencing that it appears in Windows 10 by itself. It could be something went wrong in the Win 10 upgrade, or is only coming to light because of the upgrade.  Personally, I have never had luck with Windows OS upgrades.  At some point in time, it is more efficient (time-wise and reliability wise) to bite the bullet and fresh install an OS, configure it how you want, then just restore your data and start with a new base line image of the fresh build.

Here's another, less intrusive suggestion:

Might just be an issue with ATI if you have an AMD graphics card...

I think that the problem may be due to bugs in the transfer of files during the upgrade process. On a different computer with an, as yet unsuccessful upgrade, I have run into a different missing file which results in the same sort of error.  The missing file prevents Malwarebytes from running on the affected computer even though WIN 7 was restored (sort of).
