"b1_s1_v1" being appended to every *.tib file

Thread needs solution

Hi folks,

Is there a setting somewhere that I can adjust to stop Acronis 16 from appending "b1_s1_v1" to the file name when I make an image?
ie:
My_Backup_b1_s1_v1.tib

Thanks.

There is not. This is default behavior for the application and is needed for the application to maintain its internal backup database.

Ok, thanks. If I am not doing incremental backups and I rename it without that in the name (Delete the "_b1_s1_v1") that shouldn't have any effect on me using that file to recover the image. Is that correct?

I have never tried to do this but I do not see any problem with that. If however you are relying on a scheduled task to create your backup images be they full, inc, or diff removing the appendage will cause the scheduled task to no longer function. You may wish to test a recovery on one of your backups to make sure it works.

A little more information.

Yes, the suffix is a permanent part of the file. Here is a link to the user help file.

The name assigned to the tib file will be exact same name user assigns to the backup task.
The name of the task can be changed during the task creation, or the task name can be assigned a new name via the "RENAME" OPTION.

The rename function works for backups yet to be created. The original tib name remains as first created.
The rename function can be used more than once.
Chainging the tib name manually of a completed tib file will cause the task to fail on future backups.
