Back Ups have stopped

Thread needs solution

After several nonths of proper operation, back ups have stopped.

While upgrading some software, I disconnected my external drive where the back ups were going.

Now there are no back ups being performed.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

Please download the log file viewer at the link below:

The log file viewer will allow you to read the service logs for the backups.  The latest service log will probably show errors.

When you initially set up the backup task, did you set it up so it would only run if the external drive is attached?  See picture below:

You may be able to attach the drive, select the backup task, then perform a "backup now"...that may get the backups going again.  If that does not work, the you will probably have to create a new backup task.

Chris, one other suggestion here, did your external drive get given the exact same drive letter, i.e. F:\ etc, as it had when you had it connected when you setup your backup tasks?

If not, then this is a known issue and you either need to give it the same drive letter, or give it a letter further down the alphabet which won't be used by any other USB devices that you may plug in.

See https://forum.acronis.com/system/files/forum/2016/03/115626/mvpchangedriveletter.pps for a PowerPoint presentation showing how to change drive letter.

Note: If you give the drive a new letter, then you will need to use the Clone settings option for your backup task - click on (V) next to the task name; this will create a duplicate copy of the task with a name starting (1) where you can update the settings to point to the new drive letter.  You can rename this task as you wish, but will need to delete the settings for the original task if you want to continue to have the same name as before.
