Backup error: file [backup-file] in use

Thread needs solution

After installing TI-2016, first backup attempt ends after a few minutes with the error: file [backup-file] in use.

There is plenty of space on the target drive. Why would the backup file that is being created be in use by any other program?

I recommend that you try to repair the app installation.  You can do so using Windows Programs and Features if using Win 10 or the Uninstall Programs and Apps feature in other versions.  Locate and select Acronis True Image from the list of programs and choose uninstall.  From the resulting menu choose Repair.

I performed a repair - problem persists.

Uninstalled and re-installed TI-2016 - problem persists.

I don't know why I continue to upgrade ti. Last time I had a really solid system with a reliable image backup program might have been 2012.

One other suggestion would be to add True Image to the exceptions list of your anti-virus and or malware apps.

Added TI 2016 to Norton Internet Security exception list.

Problem persists.

Any thoughts?

Well, as a last ditch effort you could try to uninstall the app, run the cleanup utility, and then install again. The link below provides details on the procedures for using the utility and a link to download it.
