Backup File Name Macro's
In ATIH 2016 can you still use the @date@ @time@ and @task@ macro's to name files?
So far I can't see how or where to alter the file name.

Thanks for that - its not what I call user friendly though is it?
Why do Acronis always seem to mess with things that were OK in the first place.
It seems instead of fixing all the issues people report they just want to play with the GUI and hide things that were useful.

Ray,
This may help.

No, it´s definitely *not* user friendly. I hope Acronis listen to their customers regarding this and bring that option back. Hacking scripts were cool in the 90´s but not year 2015.

Hi GroverH
Yes it is helpful but one word of warning. When you edit the scripts in windows 10 you will use notepad as you say. If you don't uncheck the box that says always use this program the only way to change the default program back is to do a full reset on the default apps options in settings. There is no way to change an individual app back to the default once it has been set as far as I can see. May not be an issue for ATIH but a warning to take care.

Thanks for for the headsup.

@ Grover
Is there somewhere something (besides of the above links) like a list of variables that can be used in the script files? I am trying to customize the job and file names to what TI allowed years ago.

The five that I am aware of is listed at the link.

There may be others. Try what you want in a test and see how the name turns out.
In my testing, I set up a very simple non scheduled task of a single file backup which took about 30 seconds to run each time I ran it.
Do be aware of the caution mentioned in Post #5 by RayG so that you do not allow Notepad to become the default open with the tib file.

I was kind of hoping there'd be something like @YEAR@, @MONTH@ and @DAY@ so that you'd be able to build your own date format and stuff. I had already set up a tiny backup job that executes below one minute to try things out, but it looks like you cannot use more than the five variables mentioned. You can however insert fixed portions of text. What bothers me the most however is that most idiotic appendix of "full_bNN_sN_vNN" that serves no one if you're dealing with full backups. Obviously there's no way to get rid of that. And also this numbering scheme in v that starts with 1 digit and reveals no advertence on how data is sorted.

Adding new system variable does not seem to work, either. Acronis must have these as part of their own coding--rather than the system.
The added syntax by the program has been a major help in the identification of backps as to their type and position.
This feature has been the results of user requests for means of identifying what is what.
