Backup file size larger than original
Hi today i made an image of my data drive the original size wasw 127GB after the backup was done i had a look and the T/I 2016 backup file was 180GB?
The partition i backed up had a mixture of word, excel, Mp3, and photos, i understand that Mp3 and photos were alread compressed into Mp3 and jpeg formats
But he rest were just ordanery files
I had the conpression set to normal, so why is the backup larger than the original partition, when i backed up my O/S partition 99GB and the backup image was 64GB a good bit smaqller with T/I set at the same compression
I dont understand why

Edward, you are welcome to post a copy of the log file to the forum and we can help interpret the contents with you.
In the Log File Viewer app, you can click on the File menu at the top left and take one of the options there to save the log or copy it etc. See screen shot below:

Edward, thanks for the log file data, everything looks fine and normal, with no indication of a sector by sector backup being done, so no answer here as to why your backup was so large.
The next step really is to confirm the actual size of your data drive F: to understand that it is the size you think it is.
Please run the msinfo32 program and then take the option to Export this as a text file from the File menu and post the text file to the forum so we can see the information.
Please also post a screen shot of your J:\Data Backup\PC Data Drive Backup_full_b1_s1_v1.tib file size to compare against the msinfo32 data.

Are you using "entire pc" as the backup type or "disks and partions"? if you used "entire pc" it may be backing up more than one disk instead of just the intended OS disk. Regarding the 180Gb size, is that the size of the backup .tib file as shown in Windows explorer, or in Acronis? Could you post some screenshots of your backup settings as well as computer management>>> disk management?

msinfo.txt shows that the F: drive is 1 of 2 partitions on the same physical drive. Did you do a full disk backup where the F: partition lives? If so, perhaps it backed up both partitions (as it would if you did a full disk backup) and the resulting 180GB is the combined total of "used data" on both of those paritions and not just that of your F: partition?
You should be able to double click your resulting .tib file and see what information is listed in the backup to help as well.

Hi Bobbo_3COX1
Well spotted when i opened the true image backup file i was supprised to see it had not only backed up my data drive it has also backed up my O/S partition.
But i remember deselecting the O/S partition and i doubled checked that, so i will try again tomorrow and see what happens
Thanks guys
