Backup to NAS crashes - no bootable disk found error after reboot
I have a Windows 10 Dell Inspiron laptop with TI 2016 installed on it. The machine previously had TI 2014 installed on it, but I decided to upgrade to the new version, so I uninstalled 2014 and installed 2016 (I made sure the TI 2014 directory and %appdata% directory were deleted, as well).
I created a full backup job to backup to my NAS. When I start the backup job (roughly 140GB), it appears to start off working properly (backing up over WiFI to the NAS), although the "calculating time remaining" portion takes a very long time.
In any case, at some point during the backup, TI 2016 crashes, forcing the computer to reboot. After the reboot, a "no bootable disk found" (or similar) error appears. After viewing this message and WARM-REBOOTING into the BIOS, the drive is not even "seen" (no disk appears in the BIOS). Only after a COLD SHUTDOWN and startup, will the machine once again recognize the drive.
The Event Logs offer no clues as to why TI 2016 crashed.
I ran a Dell diagnostics on the laptop drive and it showed no errors or bad sectors.
I have tried changing UEFI to Legacy in the BIOS, with no effect. I've also tried changing UEFI disk security to "OFF", also with no effect.
So, I just need to know how to get this working.
Does TI 2016 make low-level changes to the drive that it is installed on? Does it somehow alter the MBR? Will a lost or slow network connection crash TI 2016, forcing the machine it's running on to reboot? Why won't the BIOS recognize the hard drive after TI 2016 crashes the machine?
Uninstalling TI 2016 made the "spontaneous reboot when running a backup" issue go away but, obviously, that's not a solution, since I need to get this backup working.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
P.S. - I've tried separate "Entire PC" and "disk" jobs, with the same result.
