Backup performed but it shows never performed

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Since the last update to version 6571 i have two problems:

(i have two scheduled backups running: (1) disk image of my system drive (2) backup of my documents. Both backups go to an internal second hard disk.)

Problem 1:

The scheduled backup runs and it show when finished: "backup never performed" (resulting in the problem that you can not restore files or images). But the backup is performed because i can see the backup files on my second internal had disk. I can mount the TIB-files to check what is inside.

Problem 2:

The scheduled backups don't run at the schuled time. I have to click on "perform backup" manually.

Someone has the same problem?

Tony, I am not aware of these specific problems being associated with the latest build 6571 update for ATIH 2016 - that update was to fix a single specific problem on shutdown that some users had encountered.

The information that records the backup task history / status is held in the Acronis Database files (held in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database folder) and it is possible that this information has become damaged or corrupted for an unknown reason.

To resolve this first problem, I would normally suggest performing a clean install of ATIH 2016 build 6571, which in turn would completely remove both the application and all your configured backup tasks / task history / database information.
See post: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/121679#comment-372613 for the steps on how to perform a clean install.

If you would prefer to try an alternative approach first, the you could try renaming the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database folder to be Database.OLD.   See the steps below on how to do this:

Create a clean copy of the Acronis Database files:

Stop all Acronis Services and Processes - with Windows 10 you can do this via the Windows Task Manager (right-click on the bottom status bar and select Task Manager), then select / end or stop the Acronis items shown on the Processes and Services page tabs.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\ - this may be hidden on some systems, if so, change the Explorer View options to show hidden files & folders.
Rename the Database folder at the above location to Database.OLD
Restart the main Acronis True Image application which will restart all other required services & processes, and in turn will create a new Database folder and files.
Note: that you will lose your backup task history that was stored in the old copy of the database files but this will be repopulated as your backup tasks are run again.

For the second problem: I would recommend using the Acronis Scheduler Manager utility program to clean out all current scheduled tasks held by the Acronis scheduler service.  Run the schedmgr.exe program which will give a Command prompt type black window, then issue the Get list command to show a listing of all scheduled tasks.  Next issue the task zap command to remove all the lists scheduled tasks.

The schedules will be reinstated when you next perform a manual backup of your tasks.

A small addition to the above solution to problem 1 is, after renaming the database and restarting (I had to use the super-powerful administror account to do that), to right-click on the download and start a validation, which then provides with a data.  You can the stop the validation and procede with an incremental update, although it would presumably be a good idea to do a full validation when the update is donee.

Steve,

I followed your advice to rename the folder then restarting Acronis.  It worked !

Thank you

Roger

Roger, thanks for the feedback and good to know this fixed things for you.
