Backup is queued but never starts

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to run a manual backup. I've double-checked all my settings, but when I click to start the backup, it shows that it is queued and the dots progress from the source to the destination image but the backup never starts. I am befuddled.

How long do you wait for something to happen?  Normally the application will begin the bakcup process without much delay.  If a backup fails to run the application will attempt to run the backup 5 times before finally giving up and at that point might produce an error message.  This might take 5 minutes or more.

Where are you backing up to?  External drive, NAS, second internal HDD?  Knowing that can help others determine your issue.

Provide more details and maybe we can be of some further help.

Craig, please see post http://forum.acronis.com/forum/115380#comment-342464 for my reply to a similar issue from another user with a queued backup.

Thanks for the reply, Enchantech.

I started it last night and this morning it was still 'queued'.

I am backing up only the C: partition to an external drive (E:\imagebackups). I can open the drive in Explorer, so I know it is accessible.

I assume this is a scheduled task set to run a a specific time.  Please provide more details on the Options set for the task.  If this is a manual task (not set up on a schedule) then state that.

Is this the first time you have run this task or has the task been working and suddenly stopped working?

If you look at task manager you will see a few acronis background proccesses. One of these may be the problem. If I "end task" them and then restart the backup it works. I haven't worked out which causes the problem yet or how to stop it starting up if I did. Anyone know the answer???

I had the same issue yesterday on 3 out of 6 PCs on an industrial system, and stopping the 3 TrueImage processes (listed below) in process explorer (similar to task manager) worked for me.  Interestingly, TrueImageHomeNotify.exe showed over 2GB of private bytes used!  This is on a 32 bit machine with 4GB RAM.

These were running version 6569, which I then upgraded to 6571.  I'll have to monitor to see if the problems come back.

On a related topic, do these 3 processes need to be running full time on a system where all backups are done manually, not scheduled?
