Backup validation fails

Thread needs solution

I've created a filers and folders backup to my NAS drive using ATI 2016, with a version-chain backup scheme.  After creating the backup I performed a validation of said backup but this fails with a "cannot find file" type of error and looking at the log file in c:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs I see a line: "The specified file does not exist: \\192.168.1.70\Backup\Acronis\cdp.metadata" where the IP address is that of my NAS drive.

My understanding is that cdp.metadata is associated with ATI non-stop backup but I don't have that enabled and the backup in question is not scheduled, so I'm not sure why ATI is trying to find that file when validating my backup.

I've attached the log file which shows further error info.

Hello John, looking at the service log file you provided, there is more than one error being reported for this validation job, and the one immediately after the missing metadata file looks to be more serious:

Were you able to open the location where this network backup was stored from within Windows Explorer?

is there anything new on this issue? Please see attachment. Action was attempting to Validate a just finished backup to the NAS. Backup worked but Validation can't get there.

Hello Robert

Thank you for your posting! If you specify the path to the target share as  \\<ip-address>\share, does the issue still persist?

Others have reported issues in 2016 where validation fails if it is part of the backup task.  If you remove validation from the backup task itself, run the backup to completion and then try to manually validate, does it then validate successfully?
