Best method to determine if I have a good backup

Thread needs solution

I have just started using Acronis 2016. I have all my backups running as I want. I have over the last few days proven to myself that the incremental backups are working properly by deleting and restoring some files that had been added during the day or from the previous few days.

What I would like is an ability to see that Acronis has actually backed up all my files in my all my subdirectories without looking at all of them (which are too numerous) or just trusting that all the data in all the sub-folders is actually there because I have done a small check like the above.

For instance by looking at the Windows Data properties for the "Data" directory I can tell that I have 472 GB (507,728,933,372 bytes) in this directory with 5,462 folders and 122,597 files.

Is there a method or report that will show me this information? I didn't find anything in a few searches of the documentation. If it is there just point me in the right direction.

Cheers

There is no log of all files/directories backed up each time.  If you have configured the backup correctly, it will backup what you tell it to.  Be advised there are default "exclusions" on the exclusions tab so you may want to remove some of those (I remove everything, except for the pagefile.sys and hibernation files since those are not necessary for a full OS restore). If you really want to validate, doing an actual recovery to a DIFFERENT drive, from time to time, is the only true method to be sure and will help build your confidence in the application if you do that every now and then - if nothing else, to show that your backup and recovery can be successful and does contain the data you expect to be there.

Additionally, you can double click a backup .tib file and navigate through it for a quick spot check.  You can also right click a backup .tib file and "mount" it as a volume in Windows and navigate it just like a hard drive and make sure files are there.  Keep in mind if you have hidden files/folders turned off in Windows, they will remain hidden in your mounted backup too.
