Blank monitor when trying to backup a Windows Dynamic striped volume

Thread needs solution

I am trying to backup my data drive (also has seconadry programs installed on it) but am having some problem completing the backup to an external drive. It is 2x WD 640GB in a Windows software RAID (Dynamic striped volume) created through Disk Manager. Since the drive is fairly large I start it right before I go to bed and I always wake up to a black screen that says no display signal. Computer is still on and running (HD's spinning, fans spinning, KB/Mouse on, etc) but I am unable to get anything on my monitor. The only way I can get something back on my monitor is with a full power down and then powering my computer back up. I am able to backup my main Windows boot drive with no problems.

Any suggestions?

As you are doing this backup from within Windows, there shouldn't be an issue with the drives being in a dynamic RAID array, which would suggest that the computer is putting itself into a sleep or hybrid sleep mode to leave it unresponsive with a black screen the next morning?

Please download the MVP Log Viewer (link in my signature) and use this to take a look at the backup task log to see if this shows any messages for the task, i.e. does it show that the backup completed successfully?

How is the external backup destination drive connected to your computer?  Is this USB 2.0 or 3.0 and what type of port does it connect to (2.0 or 3.0) plus how is the drive powered, i.e. through the USB Port or has it's own separate power supply?

Are you using the latest build 6589 version of ATIH 2016?
