Blank screen during clone restart.

Thread needs solution

Hi. I've looked around but can't find a thread specific to this problem. I am replacing my hdd with an ssd, and using the cloning software. After selecting options on the cloning software and initiating it asks to restart computer. After I agreed to restart pc it closed down and now it is just displaying a black screen with nothing at all displayed. The pc is running and the ssd housing light is flashing so I assume something is happening. The problem is I don't know if it's working or cloning, or doing nothing. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

This issue has been reported elsewhere on the Forum.  Other users have reported that the process actully does complete although nothing appears on the screen to indicate that.

It is not recommended that you perform a clone operation of a Windows system disk from the GUI in Windows.  It is recommended that you perform such clones using the Recovery Media which can be user created using the Recovery Media Builder tool found in the Tools section of the GUI.

Thanks for your reply. What seems to be happening is when the software asks for me to restart pc after the cloning, the pc actually restarts before any of the cloning takes place. Unless it's taking place after the restart, during the blank screen?

It is happening during the blank screen.

It should complete the clone process.  At that point the machine might reboot once again back into Windows or it might reboot into an error or it could refuse to boot at all.  This is why I stated that cloning of the Windows disk is not recommended when started from within the Windows installed application.
