Booting from .vhd
Hello,
I use to buy Acronis back in the days when i used Windows 7 (few year back). But with Windows 8 one of my most used features dissapeared from Acronis. Maybe this was due to lack of support in Windows 8 or maybe Acronis just removed it since they did not think people wanted this feature.
The feature i'm refering to was this. Using Acronis i could very simply create a windows start menu and let Acronis to boot my my PC using a backup file (.vhd).
This was just amazing since i had one .vhd for my games, another for development and one for my personal use. With this method everything worked just as if had booted the system nativly since drivers and everything were working exactly as the real deal. Maybe there were a very little slowdown due to disk activity but nothing noticible.
For each version of Acronic i come back here to see if this has been added. Sadly even Acronis 2017 dont have this. So basically i'm writting this as a request and also hope others who found that feature helpful can cast a vote for this feature to come back.
Hoping this can be added in version 2018 or even as a patch in 2017. I will for sure get 2 licenses day 1 when its added.
Cheers everyone.

Yeah, not sure why .vhdx support hasn't come about. It still works with .vhd, but as of Win 8 and newer default images are .vhdx only. You can convert .vhdx to .vhd, but it's too time consuming. Good idea to have multiple backup avenues (just in case). I'd hold onto your Windows Installer disk/flash drive for .vhdx recovery (if need be) and your Acronis installer for Acronis backup .tibs for now. Definitely worth submitting feedback to request this capability though - would be another nice feature to have incorporated if it could be built in.
