Borked things with a manual move of .tib files

Thread needs solution

I manually moved all my tib files to a sub folder on my NAS (just moved them one level down from the original target), and then updated the Backup settings to point to the new folder.

However, this has borked Acronis, and now it's complaining about missing backup versions.

What is the simplest way to fix this?

Also, the prompts complain about missing version 6, but all files end with _v1, so I'm guessing it's refering to something else...but that popup could use some more useful information in order for someone to figure-out what it actually needs.

I've noticed the "Move" operation in Acronis doesn't actually seem to move the files (at least not efficiently), which is why I did it manually.

Can I just manually use the "Add existing backup" for each tib for references to be fixed?

Thanks.

Yup, that's probably your best option, delete the existing backup tasks (not the entire thing - guess it doesn't matter sine the data doesn't exist where Acronis expects it to be though) then add existing backup.  Problem is you have to recreate the backup settings for each new instance again which is a bit of a pain.

Acronis doesn't like manual moves and doesn't support it.

Deleting backups and backup versions

This topic is applicable to local and network backups. For information about deleting online backups, refer to Removing data from Acronis Cloud.

When you want to delete backups and backup versions you no longer need, please do it by using the tools provided by Acronis True Image 2016.

Acronis True Image 2016 stores information on the backups in a metadata information database. Therefore, deleting unneeded backup files in Windows Explorer will not delete information about these backups from the database. This will result in errors when the program tries to perform operations on the backups that no longer exist.

Thanks.

I only have one backup task, and I have all the tib files, since the last time I had to reset things because of moving to the NAS.

I'll try the add for each tib and see how it goes.

Just to be clear...I'm trying to "fix" a single backup task so it's knows about all the tib files that I have (that were created as part of this task, but moved).  Now that I've tried it, it seems it's actually adding new Backup tasks, not simly reintegrating the tib into a task that still references it's old location.

I'd rather fix the references in the single backup task?  Is that going to be possible...seems like it should be easy.

As things are already messed up, you could Windows move the files back into their original location,

and then use the task/move option (right click task name and choose move)

which will enable you to point the target to its new location in the sub folder.

TI will then move the files from the old folder to the new folder.
