Thread needs solution

Is is just me, or is under build 5586 we can no longger double click on *.tib files and have them open and the right-click TrueImage item has gone (allowing mounting or verifying *.tib files).

On another PC double clicking on *.tib file opens the backup. So on the initial machine it may be something to do with Acronis data base issue I had earlier in the day.

Ian,

Which OS are you running?

Hi Colin

All three are running Win 10 Pro 64 (upgraded from Win 8.1 Pro).

Ian

Ian,

Win 10:10512 64bit, UEFI, GPT layout.

TI 2016:5586.

I can explore a tib file, mounting causes an error message 'no partitions in image'. The tib file take a long time to be accessed once the drive letter appears.

I use DOPUS as my file manager.

The mounting error message might be a red herring, as I may not have selected a complete disk image, thoug I'm pretty sure it was a 'C' partition image only.

Ian,

I think your install is messed up. I would uninstall and reinstall if I were you. I upgraded through the program and all is well.

Colin, I also use Directory Opus. My systems are all running Win 10 Pro 64 (MBR disk but UEFI capable main boards).

With this build you can open but cannot mount *.tib files. There is no TrueImage 'task' when you right click on a *.tib file and I cannot find the option to mount *.tib files in the tools (they may have moved the option but I cannot find it).

The weird thing is that the PC on which double clicking on the *.tib file does not work was the one on which I did the new installation. I will see if a repair installation fixes the problem.

In build 2016-5586, Win 10,
Double clicking a tib file opens the backup file for viewing.

If I RIGHT CLICK on a tib file, there is a TrueImage folder option listed and within that folder is the mount option.
Clicking the mount option, opens TrueImage into the mount function.

Hi Grover

The plot thickens. The TrueImage option appears if I right click in Windows Explorer but not if I right click in DirectoryOpus (in the previous build the options appeared in Directory Opus). The interaction with DirectoryOpus seems to change with each build. Not sure if the issue is with DirectoryOpus or with Acronis. I have not changed the setting for DirectoryOpus or updated the version I am running.

Ian

I thought I read somewhere that it is not Windows Explorer that is used but double clicking a tib file opens an Acronis modified explorer for view backups.
If TrueImage is not installed, the double clicking the tib file does not work.

I would think that a right click function should work in all browers as it is a normal Windows pass thru function.

GroverH, if think the heavy work is probably done by the TibMount driver.

Unfortunately a repair installation of ATI 2016 does not seem to have fixed the problem on the PC that refuses to respond to double click (Windows Explorer and DirectoryOpus and not bringing up the right click option in Windows Explorer.

May have to remove and reinstall ATI 2016 again.

Grover,
As I posted in another thread yesterday (#97812), for some reason I have been unable to determine, the double click does not work for me, but results in the message:

"This page can’t be displayed
•Make sure the web address is correct.
•Look for the page with your search engine.
•Refresh the page in a few minutes."

The right click to get to the mount option DOES work, but I would MUCH prefer the double click open option to quickly access a single folder or file, etc.

Thanks for any ideas....... Bob, build 2016-5586, Win 10

Robert,
Try right clicking the tib file and
choose "opem with"
choose Windows Explorer

Does this work for you? it does for me.

Grover,
Thanks for the reply. No, the "open with" gets the same results as double click!

It seems from forum postings that some others have experienced trouble in this area with Win10/ATI2016 combination.

I am open for any other thoughts and suggestions.

Robert,

From what you wrote above it sounds as though the incorrect right click action has been attached to the tib format. Attempting to open a tib file should not result in Windows trying to open a webpage.

It should be possible to reassign the right click action for a tib file if you are using Windows 7 or 8. I have yet to find how do it in Windows 10

Colin, thanks for the reply....

In post #9 above, GroverH expressed the thought that Acronis modifies windows explorer to assign that function. If correct, that failed to happen during my build 5586 install.

I guess I can do an uninstall of ATI and ADD, run cleanup, and reinstall and hope for better results! (Although I'm not sure a cleanup runs on win10/2016 yet!)

It will be a day or two before I will have a chance to do this, so any other thoughts on the subject will be welcome!!

Bob

I think ADD needs to be installed first and TI2016 afterwards, this is due to them being slightly incompatible with each other.

OK, the plan I outlined in post #15 took a bit longer than expected, due to time conflicts with other unrelated matters, as well as a failing disk in this laptop showing errors in CHKDSK.

I went through this process:
- Replaced the failing hard drive with Samsung SSD.
- Restored with recent backup image.
- Uninstall ADD, ATI, ran cleanup.
- Reinstall ADD 12, reinstall ATI 2016-5586, (sequence suggested by Colin in last post).
- Created and ran new backup image (LOVE the performance with SSD)!

However, no difference in browsing ability -- mount function still works, double click browse does NOT!!

Fortunately, the need to get into a tib file is fairly rare, so I guess although the double click ability is much nicer, the mount function can serve until another update.

Unless there are other ideas or suggestions here!!
Thanks much ...... Bob

To change the actions of folders in Win 10 open File Explorer and click on the View tab, select Options from the menu bar, select Change folder and search options. The first view will be of the General settings and you will see a Restore Defaults option at the bottom of the window. I suggest choosing that option and then customize from there. Should resolve your problems.

Had the same issue when updating to build 5620. Accompanied by 'cannot create data base' error message.
