Can Not Remove Prior Version
I tried to remove the prior version before installing the update 2016. The removeal did not complete and the new install is still looking for the older copy to update.
How do FIX this?

Cyclone, at this point, your best option is to log into your acronis account and download the full install file. Then run the Acronis cleanup utility recommended by Pat L above. After running the cleanup utility, reboot your computer and then run the install file.

I downloaded the file; ran the cleanup utility twice; manually deleted any remaing files at the former location of Acronis.
File downloads, goes throught the install process, and fails while doing an update
Only error message is "Fatal Error during installation.
What next?

Resoved. When back to my backup and reinstalled the whole backup which solved that isssue.
1n another post, I asked how to use an external Hard Drive to restore a backup. It seems that Acronis whats to restore both my C & D drive and still indicates Backup. I do not have the storeage space on my desktop to copy the file.
How do I get to the restore feature?
If I use my boot disk, the external drive is not recognized unless you can advise me how it can be?

cyclone, more information is needed for your further question about using your external hard drive.
It sounds like you have an 'Entire PC' backup that includes your C: and D: drives? If so, then you should be able to select to restore just one of these, assuming that these are separate physical drives, and not just partitions on a single drive? If these are partitions, then you can still restore just one as needed.
If you have ATIH 2016 build 6571 installed - check your Account page in the ATIH GUI for this. Then the bootable Rescue Media that you create with this latest versions should support the majority of external disk drives using the standard, Linux based, media. If you still cannot see the external drive from that standard media, then you will need to create the WindowsPE version of the Rescue Media and possibly add in extra drivers for your external drive if that still doesn't recognise it.

Thank you, I just made a new Rescue Media disk. The one I had made prior did not recognize the external drive.
That being said, I have always been doing backups to a single external drive and separated them by Folders. In this case I have both a C & D folder with the backups inside.
Do not remember which version of rescue media I used but for me to do the restore, I needed to distroy my D drive and put the backup on that drive to be able to restore my C drive.
Is there something in the Acronis info that states that I should be doing backups on separate external drives?
I usually do backups monthly and keep the 2 previous backups. I have 3 hard drives in each of my desktop computers which would mean I need 6 external drives to be able to perform a restore?
So my problem of having the C & D drive on a single external drive will not work because they are on the same drive?

cyclone, I personally use a mix of external, internal and network drives for my backups, and like you, I separate backups in Folders according to which system the backup comes from.
There is nothing in the Acronis information that would restrict your choice of the backup storage drive. The only 'unwritten' rule is to not try to store the backup on the drive you have chosen as the source for the backup - this not because you could not try to do this, but more because of best practise in not having 'all your eggs in one basket' where you could lose everything with a single disk failure.
Does your newly created bootable media recognise your external drive?
