Can the rescue media backup options be permanently changed?
I just joined the Acronis True Image 2016 club after determining that my Norton Ghost wouldn't work on Windows 10. So far so good. I've played with most of the features and have had good success.
I've determined that the majority of my usage will be via the Rescue Media. I've manage to mod the bootmenu.xml to default to True Image (64-bit) rather than Windows. I get distracted easily and sometimes exceed the 15 second timeout and end up in Windows. :-) (Why would I boot from my USB drive and want the defuallt to be Windows?)
I have not had similar sucess changing the defaults within the Rescue Media Backup Wizard.
Questions: 1) Is there a means of permanently changing the default Backup Method from Incremental? I wish to always do Full backups.
2) Is there a means of permanently changing the Compression Level?
3) Is there a means of permanently setting the Archive Validation After Created option?
Thanks

Thanks, Bobbo.
I've opened a support ticket as you suggested. Are the tickets accessible by the forum user base or should I post the feedback to this thread?

Uncle Bill, support tickets are private between yourself and the support team, so we have no visibility of these here in the user forums. Please do post feedback as this may help others who have the same or similar questions / requirements.

Acronis support replied. Looks like there is not documented means of permanently setting my desired Rescue Media defaults. The email thread with support follows:

Hello Bill,
Thank you for your email.
Using bootable media every time you need to set these options (type of backup=full", "compression level=max", and "validation=on") manually. These parameters can not be set permanently under rescue media.
Sorry to say but there is no command line option for these parameters.
Please let us know if you need any further help.
I would appreciate if you could confirm that shared solution resolved the issue in your reply to this email.

My question simply pertains with the capability to permanently setting backup options such as "type of backup=full", "compression level=max", and "validation=on".
Is your answer.....no I cannot permanently set these? I have to select them each time I boot the recue media?
I was hoping for some command line options or parameters.

Hello Bill,
Greetings, thank you for contacting Acronis Customer Central. My name is Sanjay.
As per your email I understand that you have queries about changing parameters under Acronis Rescue Media. I will be glad to assist you.
Bill, using Acronis bootable media you can set bootable media startup parameters in order to configure rescue media boot options for better compatibility with different hardware. Several options are available (nousb, nomouse, noapic, etc.). For more information please refer to following web help documentation link:
http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2016/index.html#3…
Please refer the following answers:
1. Using rescue media, Acronis True Image by default uses a custom scheme with only full backups. This is because the program cannot consolidate backups stored on optical media such as CD\DVD and USB.
2. We cannot set or change the compression level for a pre-existing backup, However Acronis has defined the compression levels. The optimal data compression level depends on the type of files stored in the backup. For example, even maximum compression will not significantly reduce the backup size, if the backup contains essentially compressed files, like .jpg, .pdf or .mp3. (You may refer this link: http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2016/index.html#7…)
3. Using rescue media we can not set the permanent validation, you can validate the backup manually after booting the machine using bootable media. However, you can set the validation under Windows. For more information please refer to following link:
http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2016/index.html#1…
Please let us know if you need any further help.
I would appreciate if you could confirm that shared solution resolved the issue in your reply to this email.
