Cannot install True Image 2016
I am trying to install True Image 2016 on a new machine. I have downloaded the latest file on 3 different days with the same result. The download and install seem to proceed normally. When I try to open the program an icon appears on the bottom task bar (Windows 10) but nothing on the monitor. When I click on the icon I see a "ghost image" move quickly from the left down to the icon. I have also tried uninstalling and deleting all True Image folders before installing but no luck. Any ideas??
Thanks,
Bob Schoner

Hi,
I did this but I may have messed up the registry. I now cannot get into Windows, I get "Inaccessible boot device " error.

Robert, sorry but am not sure as to why you needed to make changes to the Windows registry as this is not normally needed?
Please see webpage: 7 ways to boot into Safe Mode in Windows 10 and see if you can follow any of the steps shown there for booting your Windows OS into Safe Mode or use any of the other recovery tools provided by that means.
An alternative webpage: How to Start Safe Mode in Windows 10. Easily! then scroll down the page to the section: Way 1: Enter Safe Mode when you can’t boot normally

In reply to Robert, sorry but am not… by truwrikodrorow…

Hi,
Thanks for getting back. I got into the registry because it was part of the clean tool procedure. No matter what I do I cannot get into Safe Mode. Booting from a USB stick or from a Windows 10 iso file does not help. Diagnose this PC says no problems were found. I could do a clean install of Windows 10 but I would have to reload all my programs which would be a lot of work. Since this is a new build I have the old 250gb SSD which I imaged onto a new 500gb SSD for this machine. I am running off of this old SSD to create this reply. It looks like I will have to re-image the 250gb SSD onto the 500gb SSD and go from there. I think all I would lose is some new E-Mails but that's not a big deal. I have tried saving and restoring the pst files from the 500gb SSD but I get errors (File is not configured). Google has references to this error but nothing works; I think I have to save the email files from within Outlook but I can't get to it since I can't boot to that drive. Oh well.

Robert, sorry to hear about this new issue - I have never needed to touch the registry when using the Cleanup Tool but it is too late now to point out the various cautions given in the document for the tool.
I have not used Outlook for email for very many years so am not able to help with the .PST issue other than to suggest keeping a backup of the files from the 500gb SSD. You may be able to use the options in Outlook to open the newer .PST file and then copy the missing emails rather than trying to replace the older .PST file on the 250gb SSD drive.
If you haven't already done so, download and create the ATI 2016 Rescue Media from the .ISO file in your Acronis Account downloads pages, then you will have a means of doing an offline backup (or recovery) for safeguarding purposes.

Steve, there can be problems with backing up outlook files (*.ost and *.pst) with recent versions of outlook. Problems arise from the change in location for *.ost and *.pst in recent versions of outlook, and issues relating to the file being in use when the backup task is run. Not a problem with*.ost files as they will be synchronised with the server, but *.pst files are now only used for email accounts that use POP, depending on you account settings some emails may no longer be on the server.
