Cannot restore a backup

Thread needs solution

Hi folks,

i need an help.

i own a Dell Venue 8 PRO. Have made a backup.

I have then deleted the partitions and now it won't restore the backup.

It starts then get failure.

First i have noticed that instead to make an unique file it has done two.

I have noticed that the disk is formatted as GPT and i have created as GPT using the Add new disk comand.

Now if i go in the bios i even do not see any more the HD.

Also tried to plug the Pendrive that i have used to create the backu, in another PC but it does not recognize it

asking me to format it.

How can i do to restore the backup?

Any help will be really appreciated.

Enzo, what BIOS options do you see for your Dell Venue 8 PRO computer?

If your drive is formatted for GPT then you must have an EFI / UEFI BIOS system and be booting in that mode, but the backup that you made should also be from an EFI system with GPT drives.

Are you able to open the backup image .TIB file on another computer to look at the contents of the backup file?
What partitions does the backup show?

Some screen shots would be helpful in understanding this problem.

Also which rescue media are you using - is this the standard, linux based media, or have you created the Windows PE version of the media?  If you are working with UEFI & have Secure Boot enabled, then I would recommend using the Windows PE media.

Also curious of the size of the Pro model.  Some or the smaller Dell Venues are 32-bit only and depending on the hardrive type (are they using NVME drives now as well), using winPE instead of the default Linux media may help.

A picture of the error your seeing and your bios would definitley help.

I know the Acronis media works on all Dell's - that's pretty much all we use at work and we have systems going back to old D600's to the current ultrabooks and precisions and just about every optiplex too.
