Can't access image that is on a intel raid 5 (RST)

Thread needs solution

I did image backups from the OS ssd onto an Intel Raid (RST). Now, I want to recover the backup onto the SSD as the SSD crashed. I booted with the created acronis universal restore CD but acronis can't find the images on the raid system. How do I get to these images that I can recover the operating system (W10)?

Claus, when you say you created image backups on to an Intel RAID - how is that RAID setup?

Is it a hardware RAID array, or is it a software array?
How is this RAID backup drive connected to your computer?

You should not be using the Acronis Universal Restore (AUR) CD for this type of recovery as it is intended only for when migrating a Windows OS backup to new / different computer hardware, not when doing a recovery to the same computer.

If you have a hardware RAID, then this needs to present your backup drive as if it is a single disk drive, not as multiple drives in an array of disks.

If you have a software RAID, then you will need to create the Windows PE version of the Acronis Rescue Media and inject the Intel RST drivers to support RAID.  This is because the default rescue media, (including AUR) is based on a small Linux kernel OS which has no support for RAID devices.

See KB 56610: Acronis True Image 2016: Creating Bootable Media - for details of the options for creating WinPE media.

Thanks Steven this was helpful and I created a WinPe. However now I am getting errors when resoring (see picture). I sucessfully validated the archive and tested the SSD where I want to recover the image two. I also formated the SSD without erros. So, both without any error. So where is this error now coming from?

Claus, sorry but no picture found for your post - what errors are you seeing?  Are you able to look at the Log messages in the rescue media, and if so, right-click on the top line and use the option to Save the log to your USB stick to share with us?
