cant activate startup and recovery manager

Thread needs solution

I get this error.

Failed to activate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. (0x7E)
  $module = "trueimg_vs_6571"
  TrueImage::ActivateBootManager: _
k:\6571\products\imager\servpart.cpp(1,428
Target location not defined (0x5F0001)
  $module ="ttrueimg_home_vs6571"
  LoaderActivator::FindActivateTargetDir: _
k:\6571\activator\new\utils.cpp(700)

I am using the latest build of True Image 2016 on a Dell Lattitude E7450 running Windows 10.

I just installed a new drive from dell and did a restore from a backup I made yesterday.

Whew!! Copying that error message was not easy!!

Peter,

See post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/102652 where a user with the same error found it was caused by AVG (antivirus / security).

You can try booting from the Acronis bootable Rescue Media (on DVD or USB stick) and activating the ASRM by that method completely outside of any interference from Windows or security software etc.
