Can't apply schedule to backup SSD

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I recently upgraded my C: drive from a HDD to an SSD. If I set up a scheduled back-up for the SSD it doesn't run and when I go to check the schedule settings on the "options" page I find the "do not schedule" option selected despite having selected daily and set a time. If I run the backup manually it runs fine.

When I was running the HDD C: drive it worked fine (as it still does for another HDD I have in the PC), this problems appears to have started after I installed the SSD.

I can't see anything obviously wrong with my settings and wondered if anyone else was / is having the same problem?

Cheers,

Stuart

Stuart, welcome to these user forums.

I have not come across any issues where scheduled backups fail only for an SSD, normally it either all works or all fails if there are scheduler problems.

I would suggest two possible approaches for this issue.

  1. Create a completely new backup task with a unique name and to a new destination folder and see if that will run on schedule OK.  or
  2. Download the Acronis Scheduler Manager and use this standalone program utility to first get list of all current scheduled entries, these carry the cryptic script name for each task that you will find in the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder.  Scripts have a .TIS file extension and can be opened with a text editor such as Notepad to see the actual task name.  You can use the further command task zap (removes all scheduled entries) or task n-m (where n-m is the task number shown in the get list output) to select a specific task, then task delete to delete only that selected scheduled task entry.  If using this option, then try to reconfigure your task schedule after doing the task delete (or zap).

If the drive was replaced with a new one, you need to re-select the source and destination in the existing task as the source is not the same as it originally was. The content is the same, but it's still a different drive.  Try setting the source again, even though it will appear to be the same.  Then run the backup manually after the changes which essentially is the save button. Alternatively, as Steve mentioned, try a new backup task with a unique name and see how that goes instead.

Thanks guys, creating a new task (which I tried first) fixed the problem for me!

Stuart, thanks for the feedback, glad the new task fixed this for you.
