Can't backup disc image onto same petiton

Thread needs solution

Hi, I have a install of Windows XP with a number of programs installed on a C: drive totalling 22 gig on a 500 gig drive.

I remember many years ago with an older version of Acronis true image I was able to write an image of my C drive to my C drive.  The thing was it wouldn't backup the blank space (something I would think would make alot of sense.

Now when I go into Clone drive into Acronis True Image 2016, when selecting destination drive, my C drive is grayed out.

My question is, how can I write the 22 gig on my C drive as an image, using the 475 odd gig free space of my C Drive.  Ultimately when the image has been made (preferably in eleven 2 gig packets), the image will then be written off to six DVD Rs.

Clone is a tool that creates a bit for bit copy of an entire disk thus the reason you cannot use it to do what you are trying to do.

A backup task created to make a backup image is what you need to do to achieve your objective.  Consult the documentation on this or see the Web Help link on the left of this page for more information.
