Can't Restore Files

Thread needs solution

I do weekly backups of a data drive.  I can see on my NAS that it has been creating weekly TIB files.  Some are full (about 1 TB) and some are incremental.

When I click on the backup job in True Image the "restore files" button doesn't show up at the bottom.  Only "options" shows up. And, at the top under "last backup" it says "never", but does have a schedule for the next backup.

My question is, why isn't the "restore" option showing up?  It clearly has been back up files.

As the backup is located on the NAS it may be that the account NAS account that you used when creating the backup does not allow you to read the backup. So, check the permissions. Can you mount the backup as a drive?(Not sure if you can mount *.tib files located on a NAS but worth trying).

Many users prefer to copy the backup to a local disk (either internal of external) and do the backup from there.

Thanks for your response.

What is odd is that I have 2 backup sets: 1 for my OS SSD and 1 for my data drive.  They both back up to my NAS.

The SSD backup is a disc image backup and is fine.  I can validate the backup and restore files from it.

The data drive backup is just of selected files.  It shows there is activity of successful backups but when I try to restore from it is says "no data to recover yet...after your first backup you will see its content here."

I should be able to recover from a files/folder backup, right?

David, please download / use the MVP Log Viewer (see Useful Links for the MVP User Tools) and check what messages are written to the backup task log for your selected files backup to the NAS, this may give more information on what is happening here.

According to the log file the .tib backup was created successfully.

There is one error which for "Consolidate Backup Archive Location" but other than that I can't see anything catastrophic going on.  Of course, I am no expert on these log files.

David, can you post the log showing the context for the error message please?

I am noticing that the log created yesterday says the the data file is corrupt even though it says the task was successful.  Here is the log from 8/31.  Hopefully this is what you want me to do.  Thanks for your help.

David, thank you for the log file information.

There are problems shown in the log file as follows:

File or folder 'D:\gd1981-05-02\' cannot be found.
File or folder 'D:\gd1974-05-19\' cannot be found.

Create Backup Archive From: D:\ D:\gd1981-05-02\ D:\gd1974-05-19\  To file: Data Drive_inc_b13_s2_v1.tib

So two of your Source data folders appear to be missing for the backup task?

The following backups have been successfully created: \\MAINNAS2\Backup\DataDrive\Data Drive_inc_b13_s2_v1.tib

Consolidate Backup Archive Location: \\MAINNAS2\Backup\DataDrive\Data Drive_inc_b13_s2_v1.tib Destination: \\MAINNAS2\Backup\DataDrive\Data Drive_inc_b13_s2_v1_EC197863-5729-465A-869C-AE4663BE0AFA.tib

Operation has succeeded.

The log shows that the actual consolidation action (automatic cleanup) was successful.

Steve, I saw that.  I would think the other files would still be recoverable since the operation was successful.

I have a ticket into Acronis support.  Let's see what they say.

Thanks again.

David, have you tried running a Validation for this particular backup task - if not, that may also help in identifying any other issues here?
