Cant see partitions

Thread needs solution

I am running Acronis 2016 and trying to backup 2 external USB hard drives. Windows can see the drives ok, Windows Disk Manager can see the drives ok, however Acronis cant and so I cant back them up.

Has anybody any suggestions as to why, I'm running build 6569.

I can backup other drives with no problem, its just these 2 that Acronis cant see but according to Windows there is nothing wrong wih them.

Help, I'm beginning to wish I'd stuck with Acronis 2014 now.

Ian, were the 2 externals USB drives plugged in after you started Acronis 2016?  If yes, then it may be worth exiting from the Acronis GUI and relaunching the program again to see if it picks them up then?

If that doesn't help, please provide some more details.  What version of Windows, what type of USB drives, how are you trying to back these up, what options are you taking etc?  Screen shots are always good to show us what you are seeing or not seeing here.

I'd try Steve's recommendation.  If the drives are connected after acronis is launched, they may not automatically show up.  Additionally, if these drives are for an existing backup task that is already created, if Windows assigned them different letters, the task won't work anymore.  For instance...

1:  You have internal OS on C, external drive 1 as D and external drive 2 as E.  You create backup task 1 to external 1 and backup task 2 to external 2.

You then disconnect both drives

Later you plug them in again... however this time, you did it in reverse order so external 2 is now Drive D and external 1 is now drive E - now the backup tasks wont' work because D and E are not the same drives they were originally conifgured to save the backups too.
