cdp.metadata not created

Thread needs solution

When running verification of a back up it fails. "The last backup failed"  is reported. It also reports that it can not find G:\Acronis Backups\cdp.metadata

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I have already tried backing up a number of time, and even creating new backup set-ups.

John, please download a copy of the Log File Viewer app from this forum and check for any other messages that may accompany the missing metadata file one?

Have you modified the backup task to change the target disk drive where the backup is stored from a different drive letter to drive G: ? If so, then I would recommend using the Clone settings option to create a duplicate copy of the task then modify that to point at the new backup drive, then delete the settings for the original task.

Also, you might try validating with the offline bootable media to see how it goes (coudl be a false positive).  Or, if you can mount the last version of the backup, or double click the .tib and navigate it with Acronis, your backup is good.

Hove you moved or deleted any backups using Windows File Explorer?  Are you using non-stop backup to drive G:\?  The error indicates that a backup related to the task does not exist and that the metadata file that specifies where that backup is located is also missing.

If you are using Windows 10 you should first perform a restart of Windows and see if the problem persists.  If so then other steps will need to be taken.
