Clone an imac disc

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I would like to make an image of the hard drive of my iMac from Acronis True Image 2016 installed on my pc.
And then restore this image on an SSD disk which will be installed on my iMac instead of the old hard disk.
Will it work in your opinion?

Gerard, welcome to these public User Forums.

What version of Acronis True Image do you have?

Do you have Acronis True Image for Mac installed on your iMac?

My understanding is that any imaging of Mac drives should be done on the Mac not from a Windows PC.

Your Windows license for ATI allows you to also install / use the Mac version of the same ATI version.

Hello Steve,
In response to your questions:
-Acronis 2016 v6595
-Installed only on the PC (windows)
I didn't know that my license allowed me to install ATI on the iMac as well.
Thanks for your help

Gerard, please see KB 56700: Acronis True Image 2016 on Mac: FAQ which will provide more information on the differences between the Windows and Mac versions of ATI 2016.

Please note that there is no cloning option in the Mac version plus you need to be using a supported version of MacOS.

One of the FAQ's states:

You can use one serial number on both Mac and Windows. The number of activated Acronis True Image copies is determined by your licence - for 1, 3 or 5 computers.

If you only have a license for 1 computer, then you may need to transfer the license from Windows to the Mac (& back later).

See KB 56553: Acronis True Image 2016: "You've exceeded the maximum number of activations for this serial number" - in case you see this message.
