Cloning with 2016 WD edition corrupted hard drives
I had to clone some drives so I quickly downloaded the 2016 WD version. Two drives failed to clone because of "bad sectors". The third drive succeeded in cloning, but the 5 minutes into operation the clone blue screened and wouldn't reboot. After the cloning attempts these drives show up temporarily in disk manager, but then disappear, and then won't initialize or freeze up the disk manager.
I figured this was just a bad batch of drives, so I brought the original disk home to another machine that I have the 2013 WD edition on, and made 3 clones from other disks I had lying around without a hitch.
I took 3 more drives from my stockpile the next day to clone another machine, again using the 2016 version. This time I had the same issues where they wouldn't clone because of "bad sectors". When I brought the same drives back home I was able to format two of the drives and complete the cloning process successfully using the 2013 software without issue, using those same drives. The third drive is showing the same behavior where it won't initialize because of a "cyclic redundancy check".
At this point I'm convinced that the 2016 edition corrupted these somehow, but I can't suss out exactly how to repair it.
Any ideas?
