Cloning Hard Drive Disabled Win7 Search

Thread needs solution

Hello All,

My main question is should or can I clone from a bootable disk rather then from Windows? I tried cloning from win7 then restarted the computer, then the clone process started with no cloning issues.

Second, after cloning, my windows seach no longer works and in my Outlook 2013 seems not to be showing some link pictures. Not sure if these are related. Also, I don't know if any other issues regarding windows funcitons are present.

I also read that sometimes that the serial#/ID# of the hard drives might be an issue also.

Any feedback will be great. Thank you in advance.

It is recommeded that clone operations be performed using the bootable recovery media rather than from within the Windows OS.  This is due primarily to the fact that bootloader corruption can occur if the clone operation is run under Windows.

Not sure about your other issues with search and Outlook but in my experience with clones done with the boot media I have never had any problem with either of those things.
