Cloning a mac disk

Hi, I have Acronis True Image Home for Windows (2016 version) and am trying to repair an iMac for a friend. The hdd is shot so I want to get a replacement and clone the existing disk (as I have done a few times with Windows computers and the Drive Clone utility)

My question is will the windows version of Drive Clone succesfully clone a mac format disk or does this need to be done on a Mac computer with the Mac version of True Image Home installed?

Hi Paul Rogers,

Unfortunately there is no cloning utility in the Mac version and cloning of such disks is unsupported.

You might want to try backing up this disc in a sector-by-sector mode and then restoring it on your new disk.

However, since there might be problems related to hardware incompatability, we cannot guarantee the complete succes of the operation.

For the future, I recommend you to use the Mac version of Acronis True Image and make a regular backup of your system.
