Cloning Problem
I have a Dell Inspiron 580 desktop, i3-550, 1TB HD. I am adding a Crucial MX200 SSD to be primary drive. I just installed the SSD, booted computer, downloaded Acronis software & ran the .exe file. I then rebooted, and changed boot order in bios, changed new SSD to first and old HDD to second. Windows would not load correctly so I changed boot order back to original to get windows working. Acronis installation guide recommends I switch jumpers (or in this case SATA drives) before rebooting because the new drive is marked as primary and active. First question, do I swap SATA connections at the motherboard? If so, do then change boot order in bios? Thanks for suggestions!

Thanks for your help. I disconnected the original source disk and plugged those connectors into the new SSD. Bios listed the new SSD drive as 1st boot. Machine would not boot up to windows.
Regarding your first comment, I downloaded Acronis True Image HD software and ran the .ext file. My new SSD came with an activation serial number for installation. This is what you mean by "the installed windows application"? What is the bootable recovery media? Can I uninstall the Acronis software and re-clone the drive using this 'bootable recovery media'?

Well, you have an OEM version of the True Image application. I have no idea if a Recovery Media can be obtained or created with an OEM version. The paid for version of True Image allows for Recovery Media creation from within the installed application. All I can suggest is that you look for a tools option in the installed app and if you can find that look for Recovery or Boot Media. If it is there then you should be able to use it to create a bootable media to perform the clone with.
Beyond that you will need to either purchase Acronis True Image to obtain the tool or seek an alternative product.

Thanks for the information. What is best way to uninstall the software where I re-install or try different migrating software?

You can use Windows built in uninstaller or any third party uninstall app. Nothing special needed.
