Cloning a SSD according a schedule

Thread needs solution

Hi

I like:

1.)

Create a clone of my SSD at a secure zone like a recovery partition in case of a Windows crash!

2.)

Every 14 days I like create a clone of the SSD according a schedule, is that possible with Acronis?

Fredrik, welcome to these User Forums.

Sorry but it is not possible to schedule any clone operation, and not possible to clone to the Acronis Secure Zone.  All cloning is a 1 to 1 duplication of the source data from the SSD to a target drive of similar size (sufficient to hold the used data size from the source).

See KB 1540: Difference between Backup and Disk Clone which gives a good description of the processes that you can use and how they can be used.

You can create a full disk & partitions Backup of your SSD drive and that can be stored in the ASZ and can be scheduled to be performed every 14 days or whatever schedule you prefer to use.

Can you be more precise about this:

Then you wrote:

Did you mean into the ASZ but in overall I can make a clone?

Fredrik, to do a clone you need a second disk drive of an equal size or that is capable of holding the data stored on the first drive.  You cannot clone to the ASZ because this is a special FAT32 partition on a drive - cloning works with whole drives, not individual partitions from such drives.

Cloning should always be done using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media as it has to be performed offline from Windows, especially when a Windows OS is installed on the source drive.

Please see forum topic: [IMPORTANT] CLONING - How NOT to do this for more information on this subject.

Ok :)

Is that possible making a recovery partition of the SDD like if you bay a new laptop?

Do you know if that is possible makin a type of clone of a SSD into a partition on a HDD?

Fredrik, you cannot do what you ask by using cloning.

You can make a backup image of your SSD and store that on another partition such as the ASZ but you would need to boot from the Acronis Rescue Media or activate the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager to recover that backup should you need to do so.

Ok then I can recover the SSD from that backup in case of a Windows or SSD crash!

Cloning is = a indentical SSD / HDD with same size :)

Thanks you for sorting tis out ;)

I would recommend creating and testing the Acronis bootable Rescue media a long time before you think you may need it in the event of a Windows or SSD crash.  If your SSD dies then you will need to use the Rescue Media to recover your new backup image to a new / replacement SSD drive.
