Cloning to USB Hard drive

Thread needs solution

I just purchased an HP Spectre 360 laptop and loaded it up with my software.  I purchased Acronis True Image 2016.  I tried to clone my SSD drive.  When I start the cloning process everything works fine.  When Acronis says to restart my computer I say okay.  The computer restarts and goes back into windows without ever doing the backup.  I get no error message.  I must be doing something wrong.

The link above covers how to clone a disk with ATI 2016.  I recommend reading all the way through, as there are some issues where cloning is not supported.  Also, there is a link for cloning on laptops.

Cloning refers to the operation of duplicating the disk information from disk A to disk B. The result is that disk B is a clone of disk A. Typically you wouldn't clone to a USB hard drive because these disks are not bootable.

Imaging refers to the operation of storing all the disk information of disk A to a file on disk B. The results is a set of archive files. If disk A fails, you restore the information from these files to disk A or its replacement. All necessary data of disk A is backed up and restored to get your system (OS, apps, data) back it where it was.
