Cloud backup queues all other backups

Thread needs solution

Hi,
First time trying backup to cloud with Acronis. I have chosen "Complete PC" (which was somewhat silly since has 220 GB to backup and 2 days later ony 15 GB had been uploaded). I shall backup to cloud in several pieces.
My question is related to this: the complete PC backup to cloud caused all other daily local backups to be queued (for 12 days ?) and THIS is a real PROBLEM. So I deleted cloud backup to have the other ones done.
Note: I understand 1st backup is Very long.

Other cloud backups I use are multithreaded.

Have I missed something ?

Thanks for help/idea..

Jacques, this is expected, since only one backup task can be running at any give moment.

Hi, Dmitry

Thanks for your answer, but so insatisfactory : the present backup Acronis is performing has been lasting 4 days (1 day remaining) this is not a problem, but meanwhile the daily backups (local ones, no cloud) are blocked which, in case of a disk crash, might cause the loss of four days of work.
In my opinion, cloud backups should execute in the background thus permitting local backups at the same time. So there would be one cloud backup and one local simultaneously.
As a developper, of course, I understand this would be a major update !

What do other forum members think of this request ?

Jacques,

I agree with you completely. The cloud backup is a fine idea and a nice feature for the application but in my opinion it has been rather poorly implemented. Many users like yourself have many gigabytes of data that they wish to store in the cloud. Notice I said store here and not necessarily backup to the cloud.

The current methodology of the cloud feature is that of a backup to the cloud and nothing beyond that. So a user only has the choice of a backup task to the cloud which as you point out suspends all other backups. Backup tasks cannot run simultaneously due to application design so must run concurrently thus, in my opinion, a BIG problem.

Acronis is in all respects selling Cloud Storage bundled with a backup application. Users should have the ability to upload data to the cloud storage they are paying for without such being dependent on a backup task. I made a suggestion sometime ago that the application should have the ability to at least upload previously created backup jobs to the cloud for archive purposes. Simply doing that would negate the issue you have brought forth here.

Additionally, such functionality would encourage users to put into practice the backup wisdom of having more than one copy of a backup and that such copies be stored in offsite locations such as the cloud.

I hope your suggestion gets some recognition and gains some traction. It would benefit all.

Thanks for your opinion.

Did someone try the "sync" function ? Does it also stall the backups tasks ?

Sync and Backup are separated from each other allowing the user to make backups while the Sync is working in the background.

With TI2013 and TI2014 i have had excellent experiences with the Sync feature. I have had many issues with the sync feature in TI2016. Let´s say that i created a sync in a previous build of TI2016. Each time i have upgraded to a newer build of TI2016 some or all syncs are gone from the user interface in TI2016 and actually gone from my Acronis Account as well. I don´t know how many times i have re-uploaded data because of this.

Today i don´t use the sync feature since one cannot trust it the way one could in TI2013 and TI2014.

Thanks for your feedback.
