Comparison ATI2015 & 2016 - Differential Backups of Personal Folders!

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have been evaluating ATI 2016, and observed a difference with differential backups of my personal folders.

Occasionally, with 2016, the automatic validation processes, detects an error, usually a missing file.

If I now immediately perform a manual validation, I have observed that after validation, ATI starts another differential backup, automatically, and the subsequent automatic validation confirms a successful backup.

Given that validation process is supposed to validate all backups in a chain, I'm a little confused on why it does not detect an error, on the differential backup, which it previously reported an error.

I have not observed this sequence of events, with 2015!

The big questions are:

(1) Can I now assume all backups in the chain are successful!

(2) Since the most recent differential backup, is essentially a duplicate of the previous differential backup, can I safely delete the earlier differential backup, which the validation showed an error

Appreciate comments, or an explanation

Indeed strange behavior. This second automatic backup triggered by the manual validation, does this backup run as long as the original? Is this a full disk backup differential or entire PC or file folder?

If this is a full disk or entire PC backup you might experiment with a single folder backup to see if there is any difference in behavior. Not sure if that will help you any but would prove it is consistent across backup plans.
