Completely Unable To Boot

Thread needs solution

I am installing a Crucial SSD and using the Acronis software that came with it (2016).

I made a backup disk, went through the process of selecting source/target, and True Image said that I need to reboot to restart to continue the process. It restarted and came up to a blinking cursor.

I tried to use the recovery disc and it came up to a blinking cursor.

I detached the ssd that was to be the new drive and rebooted and came up to a blinking cursor.

Not only did the process fail, but now my pc is completely hosed and cannot even boot to windows.

All of the solutions that I am seeing presuppose that the person is able to get back into windows, which I am not.

At one point, I did get a message that flashed so fast I was not able to get it all, but it said "Acronis was unable to open file.......". That was all I was able to get.

Daniel,

If you can provide some additional information, I am confident someone on the blog will be able to help.

What type of computer? laptop or desktop.

What version of windows?

You said you made a backup disk.  What kind of backup disk did you make?

Have you changed any of your BIOS settings?  What type of BIOS...UEFI or Legacy?

Is the old system disk formatted MBR or GPT?
