Computer slow in running programs after installing Acronis True Image 2016

Thread needs solution

We recently installed Acronis True Image 2016 on 5 computers. Since the installation, one of the computers (with a Microsoft Windows XP Professional Operating System - main software program is very old and needs to be run on XP and is very important to run well) is very slow in programs used on that computer. Message states that it can't operate function, another program is running. This hasn't been this issue with the other four computers,  one of which also has the same XP operating system and same specialized program.

Computer backup program is scheduled to be done in the evening. Problem with the slow computer (apparently with this other program running) occurs in the morning, whether or not the computer is shut off and rebooted following the evening computer backup. The issue is most noticeable in the morning when starting to use the computer for the day. As the day progresses, the computer runs the needed programs more the way it should.

Any thoughts or ideas - thanks for anyone who can help.

Joan, welcome to these user forums.

First, please check that you are running the latest build 6571 for ATIH 2016 on your systems - you can check this by looking at the Account page in the main application GUI.

Next, see KB document: 56517: Acronis True Image 2016: Supported Operating Systems and note the limitations for using this product with Window XP SP3:

*New features of Acronis True Image 2016 (like Family Dashboard or Archiving) have not been tested on Windows XP SP3 32-bit and might not work correctly, although basic functionality fully supports this operating system.
Windows XP 64-bit is not supported.

Further, see KB document: 56697: Acronis True Image 2016: Services and Processes which lists all the services and programs that are used by ATIH 2016 - this can be useful in trying to determine which of these, if any, are causing the performance to be impacted.  There are services here that could be stopped / disabled if you are not going to be using the functionality they provide, i.e. Acronis Sync / Non Stop Backup...

See post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/124831#comment-385739 where another MVP has posted two file attachments that can be used to easily stop or start all Acronis Services via a Windows batch / command file.
