Consolidation/Verification Failing With "Failed to open data stream"

Thread needs solution

Within the last day or so, 2 of my scheduled backups have failed with the pop-up as follows:

Last backup failed. Failed to open data stream. Try to remove backup from list, add it again...".

It appears the backup itself works (a new .tib file is created) but either the backup consolidation or verification is now failing.

I have been successfully running these backups for years and now all of a sudden this issue crops up. I did remove the backup from the list and recreated it (quite a pain) but the issue persists. Only after I turned off backup consolidation did the back "complete successfully".

Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Les, what do the logs for your backup tasks say is happening here?

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see if they show any issues during the operation process?

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.3.1)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The Schedule2 log contains information related to scheduled task but is one of the more difficult logs to read / work through.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

Thanks for the response.

There are no demon logs on my system. Schedule2 logs seem to show only actions related to the scheduled task, not details about the backup. If you think Schedule2 log would help resolve this issue I'll post it.

Since I originally posted, this issue is now happening to ALL of my scheduled backups on this PC, which is a mix of File & Folder backups & partition backups.

Les, have you tried to create and run a new backup task - does that work?

Otherwise, see KB 60915: Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office, Acronis True Image: repairing program settings - and try some of the actions described there.
